Reb Shayele of Kerestir
The heilige Reb Shayele Steiner zy"a — tzaddik of Kerestir, whose entire life was hachnasas orchim, and whose bracha for parnassah continues to carry Klal Yisroel until today.
His Legacy
A tisch that never closed.
Reb Shayele's home in Kerestir was open to every Yid — rich or poor, learned or simple. No hungry traveler was ever turned away, and the seudos at his tisch became legendary across Hungary and beyond.
His picture, hung in homes and businesses around the world, is treasured as a segula for parnassah and shemirah. Yidden travel each year to his kever in Bodrogkeresztúr to be mispallel on his yahrtzeit, the 3rd of Iyar.
At Haichel Hakodesh, the yahrtzeit is marked each year with divrei hisorerus, a seudah, and tefillos b'tzibbur — keeping the heilige Reb Shayele's avodah alive in our kehillah.
Yahrtzeit During Covid
A virtual tisch from our kehillah.
When travel to Kerestir was impossible, Haichel Hakodesh hosted a live yahrtzeit program so yidden around the world could be mishtatef in the simcha of the yom hilula from their own homes.
זכותו יגן עלינו ועל כל ישראל
